As of September 25, 2026: the Houston Marathon and Houston Half (January 17, 2027) are sold out except for charity entries. Dallas (December 13), San Antonio (December 6), Austin (February 14) and Cowtown (February 28) are all still open. Austin’s January half has a new name: the Spurs Austin International Half, formerly the 3M Half.

Houston: sold out, with charity entries left
General registration for the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon sold out in early August. ABC13 reported it as the fastest sell-out since the pandemic, with about 40,000 participants expected over race weekend, January 13–17, 2027, the most organizers have ever had. The races start downtown on Sunday, January 17.
The remaining way in is the Run for a Reason charity program. ABC13 reports it requires a reduced entry fee plus a $350 donation to one of 68 charities. Some charities have already sold out their spots. Can’t get in? Look at other Houston races: the Run Houston! Dallas: December 11–13, fees rise as it fills
The 55th BMW Dallas Marathon weekend starts with a Friday Night Lights mile on December 11. The 10K and 5K are Saturday, December 12. The marathon, half, ultra and relay start at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 13. The race said in April that fees “will increase incrementally as runner registrations increase,” so waiting will cost you more. San Antonio: year two of the city’s own marathon
The San Antonio Marathon, run by San Antonio Sports with the city, is in its second year. The 5K is Friday, December 4. The marathon and half start Sunday, December 6. RunSignup shows the final price tier in effect now: $199 for the marathon, $169 for the half and $69 for the 5K, before processing fees. Austin: a renamed January half, then the February marathon
The former 3M Half is now the Spurs Austin International Half. It runs Sunday, January 17, 2027 on the same net-downhill course that finishes downtown, which puts it on the same morning as Houston. The launch price was $99 through May 19; prices have gone up since.
The Austin Marathon, half and 5K are Sunday, February 14, 2027, with a 7 a.m. start downtown and the finish on Congress Avenue in front of the Capitol. The race says it is honoring military service members this year with an entry discount for eligible active-duty and retired runners. Other races are on the Austin & Hill Country calendar.
Cowtown: February 27–28, and a transfer deadline to know
Fort Worth’s Cowtown puts the 5K and 10K on Saturday, February 27, and the half, full and 50K ultra on Sunday, February 28. The race says its full and ultra are Boston Marathon qualifiers. Know the fine print: Cowtown has what it calls a 49-year policy of no refunds or deferrals. Transfers to another runner or distance are free until December 31, then cost $30. Online registration closes February 26 at 11:59 p.m. unless a distance fills first.
