The Seawall is the course. Most Galveston races run on or beside the flat Seawall, where wind off the Gulf matters more than terrain. Race by effort on the way out.
The Causeway is the only hill. The Daily News Press Run uses certified courses over the Galveston Causeway; that climb is the biggest on the island’s calendar.
Bigfoot runs most months. Bigfoot Running Company lists a themed Galveston race most months, several with a half marathon, and some show the location as still to be determined. Check the listing before you book. More Gulf Coast races are on our Run Houston page.
Respect the heat outside winter. From late spring to early fall, run at sunrise, drink before you are thirsty and run by effort rather than pace. Stop and cool down for heavy sweating, weakness or clammy skin; call 911 for confusion or slurred speech. Our zone 2 guide covers training through it.
February 2027 is the busiest month on the current Galveston calendar, with 2 races.
