The Trinity Trails are the long-run route. The Tarrant Regional Water District manages more than 100 miles of trail in the Fort Worth area, enough for 13 miles without repeats. The Fort Worth Marathon half runs along the Trinity River, through Overton Park and the Colonial area. More places are on our running in Texas guide.
November and February are the peaks. The Fort Worth Marathon half starts at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026 from Farrington Field; our Fort Worth Marathon guide has fees and the course. Cowtown’s half anchors the last weekend of February.
Multi-day loop races add a lot of dates. Some Fort Worth listings run a half several days in a row, like the three-day Dalmatian Run Fest on a paved 6.55-mile loop at Marine Creek Lake. They count once per race here, not once per day.
Respect the heat outside winter. From late spring to early fall, run at sunrise, drink before you are thirsty and run by effort rather than pace. Stop and cool down for heavy sweating, weakness or clammy skin; call 911 for confusion or slurred speech. Our zone 2 guide covers training through it.
January 2027 is the busiest month for half marathons around Fort Worth on the current calendar, with 8 races.
