A few venues host most races. Brazos River Park (18427 Southwest Fwy) has the Lone Star Stampede, the Dream Run, Giving Thanks and Space City Ultra, whose organizer describes its river trails as beginner-friendly singletrack. Oyster Creek Park hosts several themed races, and Constellation Field hosts the Santa 5K & 10K, the Space Cowboys 5K and the Sugar Rush Relay, whose loop passes the old Imperial Sugar Mill.
December is Houston Marathon prep. The 30K and 10K on December 13 is set up as a dress rehearsal for the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half in January, down to the gels. Our Houston half marathon guide has the race-weekend details.
Houston’s series races run here too. The Santa 5K & 10K is the Run Houston! series finale, and many other Sugar Land listings are themed races (Turkey Shuffle, Candy Cane Course, Bigfoot Classic, Cold Front) whose organizers also stage them elsewhere around Houston. Our Houston race series guide explains how Run Houston! works.
Respect the heat outside winter. From late spring to early fall, run at sunrise, drink before you are thirsty and run by effort rather than pace. Stop and cool down for heavy sweating, weakness or clammy skin; call 911 for confusion or slurred speech. Our zone 2 guide covers training through it.
November 2026 is the busiest month on the current Sugar Land calendar, with 5 races.
